The Ironsides welcomed Monmouth to the Rec and were looking to get a first victory since their promotion to 3A. However today wasn’t the day with the Ironsides losing 52 -15.

The game started brightly for the Ironsides but in a blink of an eye Monmouth were over in the corner and 5 minutes in there were glimpses of the past two games creeping in.

However the heavily depleted squad really stuck to the task and committed themselves throughout. Again ill discipline and backchat was a feature but a total of three tries scored (Matthew Williams x2, Dafydd Morgan) meant that the hard work wasn’t rewarded with even a bonus point.

Ironsides focus now moves onto the next game where they travel to  Abertwsygg RFC who no doubt will be another tough test.

Let’s hope the injury list decreases over the coming week and that the first W is just over the hill.
