A tough first game for a spirited Ironsides team against a strong Oakdale team who are sure to be pushing for promotion this year.
Overall some positives to take as the boys didn't give up and had their fair share of territory and possession but were unable to convert at vital moments.
At half-time the Ironsides were trailing 14-5 with Matthew Williams going over from close range. However the second half started very much like the previous game against Abercwmboi. Some strong carrying and running from the Oakdale pack seen them score straight from the kick off.
There was a slight glimmer when Jack Cullen's fantastic tight finish in the corner gave the Ironsides a small foothole in the game but this was quickly dashed.
The match played out with 13 Ironsides against 14 and passive scrums.
Overall a tough one to start but the boys have really got to come together in training and focus for the week ahead with Abergavenny up next at home on the Rec.
